Diana Ross coming to SA
2005-07-15 07:02
Cape Town - Diana Ross, dubbed the most successful female vocalist of all time by the Guinness Book of Records, is making her way to South Africa.
Ross will be performing in an exclusive show at the Bellville Velodrome on November 11.
Ross's second visit to this country and a first for Cape Town will include only a few select performances.
She will first appear at the Unite of The Stars Gala Banquet to be held at the Dome in Johannesburg before moving on to perform at her exclusive show in Cape Town.
The proceeds of her appearances will support some of South Africa's worthiest charities including The Nelson Mandela Children's Fund, Unite Against Hunger, Topsy and Rotary.
Ross has had more albums on the UK chart - including 17 that reached the Top 10 - than any other American female artist and her brilliant career has spanned more than 40 years.
She was earlier this year pronounced by MAC Cosmetics as the face of its new ICONS collection and recently was among the 25 "legends" honoured by Oprah Winfrey as her personal heroines.
Last year Ross returned to concerts, with a dozen-date tour in the UK and Europe. As well as selling out every date, the reviews she received showed that she remains at the top of her game as one of the world's greatest entertainers and performers.
