Cape Town - Publicists close to Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have dismissed reports that the Hollywood couple is planning a trial separation as "absolutely false".
Various celebrity magazines and websites reported over the last week that Holmes is fed-up with Tom Cruise and that she "wants her life back".
According to the latest issue of In Touch magazine Holmes plans to movie to Manhattan, New York with their 2-year-old daughter Suri to pursue her Broadway ambitions.
"She'd love to go to Broadway to show the world she can act," a source told In Touch.
Another tabloid, Star Magazine, reports that Holmes is desperate to break away from her "controlled life under the watchful eyes of her husband" and that she regards a move to Manhattan as a good excuse for a "trial separation".
"Katie desperately needs to be on her own for a while, but there's no way Tom is going to let her take Suri away," an insider told Star.
"There's no way he'll allow it. He just doesn't want Katie - or Suri - out of his sight for long. He told her that if she goes to New York, fine, but he goes with her."
Despite all the rumours, Holmes's representative insists that all is well.
"Katie and her husband enjoy a close and loving relationship," claims the spokesperson.
Almost three years have passed since Cruise and Holmes had their first date on 29 April 2005.
From its very start, the media deemed the relationship as a sham.
Holmes's parents also opposed Tom Cruise and his Scientology beliefs from day one.
