It's a boy for movie star

Los Angeles - Actress Kate Hudson gave birth on Wednesday to a son, her publicist said.

Hudson, 24, and her musician husband Chris Robinson, 37, have named the boy Ryder Russell Robinson, according to the publicist, Brad Cafarelli. Hudson and Robinson were married in December 2000.

Hudson is the daughter of movie star Goldie Hawn and entertainer Bill Hudson.

The aspiring young actress was nominated for an Oscar as supporting actress in Almost Famous.

Her other credits include How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days and Le Divorce.
