Los Angeles - Hollywood superstar Jack Nicholson has bought the home of his late friend and neighbour Marlon Brando for five million dollars, according to reports.
The Oscar-winning star of films including The Shining and One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest snapped up the hilltop property in Beverly Hills that went on the market after Brando died in July at the age of 80.
Brando's 12-room home was built in 1954, with three bedrooms and four bathrooms, according to the Los Angeles Times and the movie database IMDB.
The reclusive Brando spent much of his latter years secluded in the house that he owned for more than 30 years, which shares a fence with 68-year-old Nicholson's mansion.
He also owned his own private atoll of Tetiaroa in the Pacific island territory of Tahiti.
The enigmatic double Oscar-winning star of On The Waterfront and The Godfather left a $21.6m estate that included his two homes when he died last year.
Surprising in death as in life, the intensely private Brando's last wishes raised fresh questions about his family ties, as he cut at least two heirs out of his will and revealed the names of two previously unknown children among his 10 surviving offspring.
Nicholson has won three Oscars, two best actor statuettes for 1975's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and 1997's As Good as It Gets, as well as a best supporting actor statuette for Terms of Endearment (1983).
