London - Britain's bad boy rocker Pete Doherty, the on-off boyfriend of supermodel Kate Moss, has been arrested in London on suspicion of possessing possible crack cocaine, a newspaper said on Thursday.
In a garbled interview with The Sun tabloid, the 26-year-old also revealed Moss had just dumped him after he walked out of an exclusive rehabilitation clinic in the United States, quitting a programme that she had funded.
Moss, 31, has had her own drug problems recently after another British newspaper published fuzzy images of her allegedly doing cocaine in a London recording studio in September. She reportedly checked into the same private clinic in the US state of Arizona for a month of treatment.
Doherty, who fronts rock group Babyshambles, was stopped by police on Tuesday night while driving a Jaguar through west London, The Sun said.
Police tight-lipped about details
He was arrested after police found what looked like a crack pipe and three rocks of what was thought to be cocaine, it reported.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police refused to confirm the report, but said a 26-year-old man was arrested by police in west London just after midnight on Wednesday morning for alleged possession of class A drugs.
"He was taken to a west London police station and later bailed to a date in January 2006," she said.
The incident happened one day after Doherty returned from the Meadows Clinic in Arizona where Moss had sent him on November 19, The Sun said.
The singer, a self-confessed drug user, told the tabloid that Moss "went ballistic" when she found out he had left the clinic and finished with him.
"I spoke to Kate 30 minutes ago. She shouted and screamed at me. She threw her phone at the wall. She's furious," Doherty said.
