Kidman's humiliation

Sydney - Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman said on Thursday she felt embarrassed and humiliated when her 10-year marriage to Hollywood heart-throb Tom Cruise ended almost three years ago.
In Sydney for the launch of her latest film, Cold Mountain, widely tipped to bring her another Oscar nomination, Kidman revealed she had to be coaxed out of bed when her marriage failed.
"I sort of thought at that time that I was going to curl up in a ball and just never get out of bed," Kidman said.
"I felt embarrassed and humiliated and all of those things.
"And it just kind of happened, in a strange way, it just sort of happened against my own desire, which is weird."
But the actress said she was encouraged by thoughts of her children - Isabella and Connor - and the chance to play Virginia Woolf in The Hours for which she won the best actress Oscar.
Kidman was handed the keys to her home town of Sydney on Wednesday before the gala premiere of the American civil war epic.
She also broke with tradition, pushing aside barricades to sign autographs and shake hands with excited fans.
If Kidman takes the best actress award she will become the first since Katharine Hepburn in 1967-1968 to win back-to-back awards in the category.
