Kirk Douglas opens wallet again

Canton, New York - Film legend Kirk Douglas has given a private university in upstate New York a R7.6m gift.
It's the second time the 91-year-old Academy Award-winning actor and his wife, Ann, have donated R7.6m to St. Lawrence University. The gift helps minority students attend St. Lawrence University through the Kirk Douglas Scholarship Fund.
Douglas graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1939. He last returned to the Canton campus in 1999 and donated funds to establish the scholarship fund.
Douglas has appeared in more than 85 films, including Spartacus, and Gunfight at the OK Corral. He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1981 and the National Medal of the Arts in 2001.
