Moss checks into rehab

London - Shamed supermodel Kate Moss has checked into an exclusive clinic in the United States after allegations of cocaine abuse, two British newspapers said on Thursday.
Friends of the 31-year-old model told The Times daily that she had flown to the $4 000 a night Meadows Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, where she will spend a month in "medical treatment and therapy".
The Sun tabloid said Moss's alleged cocaine habit would be among the issues she hopes to tackle. It added that she arrived at the clinic on Saturday.
Elle Macpherson, the Australian supermodel, reportedly advised Moss to check-in after she used the centre two years ago for treatment for depression.
Other troubled celebrities who have also had a go include former England footballer Paul Gascoigne and British television presenter Michael Barrymore.
The Meadows runs a notoriously tough regime, according to newspapers.
"Patients are not allowed visits during the first four weeks and are not even able to see their children," The Times said.
Moss's daughter Lila Grace is three years old on Thursday.
Last week, the waif-like model apologised following a series of lurid newspaper allegations which began with the publication of grainy video stills apparently showing her snorting cocaine.
Moss said she took "full responsibility" for her behaviour and had begun taking tough steps to address "personal issues" in her life, without explicitly saying she had taken the drug.
Following the reports, Swedish fashion retailer H&M and British fashion house Burberry dropped Moss from advertising, while other groups said they were reviewing contracts with her.
