Los Angeles - Victoria Beckham, a
regular on lists of the best-dressed celebrities, is following
the lead of her famous footballer husband and stripping down to
her designer underwear for an advertising campaign.
Emporio Armani on Wednesday said Beckham, who came to fame
as "Posh Spice" in the British pop group the Spice Girls, will
model underwear for the company in an advertising campaign set
to roll out in spring next year.
She joins her husband, British soccer star David Beckham,
who was the focus of a similar Armani underwear campaign this
past summer that caused a stir among his fans.
Victoria Beckham, 34, posed for the pictures in the ritzy
beachside community of Malibu where she lives with her husband
and their three young sons.
The images were shot by fashion photographers Mert Alas and
Marcus Piggott, the same duo who took David Beckham's underwear
ad pictures.
'Style icon'
"Victoria is a style icon, a dynamic lady whose influence
and recognition will add great excitement to the continued
international growth of our Emporio Armani women's underwear
business," Giorgio Armani, the Italian designer at the head of
the company, said in a statement.
It's far from Beckham's first venture into fashion.
She has worked as a model and four years ago she designed
her own line of high-end denim jeans for Rock and Republic. She
has also marketed jeans under her own label, dVb.
The Beckhams moved to Los Angeles from Britain last year so
David Beckham could play soccer for the LA Galaxy although he
is now negotiating a short-term loan to play for AC Milan from
next January.
