Pretoria - Singer and actor Steve Hofmeyr has been discharged from a Gauteng hospital after he underwent a colon operation on Tuesday.
Speaking shortly after he left the hospital on Sunday afternoon, Hofmeyr said: "If you get a second chance at life, you realise how much you faffed around the first time round."
Hofmeyr was delighted to hear on Sunday morning that he would be able to sleep in his own bed that night.
His doctor was satisfied that his digestive system was functioning normally and that he had recovered enough to recuperate at home.
"For the last five days, I was treated like a king here in hospital. On my way out of hospital - less mobile and in more pain than after my last operation in May - I handed out a few of my new Blue Bull CDs to the hospital staff," he said.
"I am sure my team will still take the (Currie) Cup."
Hofmeyr said he was looking forward to three weeks of rest.
He plans to only read, write and "spoil my two boys".
