London - Coldplay singer Chris Martin has been cautioned by British police for attacking a photographer who tried to take a picture of him and his movie star wife Gwyneth Paltrow, police said on Thursday.
The incident took place as the celebrity couple left San Lorenzo, a swanky restaurant in Knightsbridge, in the heart of the British capital, last April when Paltrow was pregnant with their daughter Apple.
The freelance photographer suffered minor cuts and scratches.
"A 27-year-old man has been cautioned for common assault," a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said referring to Martin.
A police caution is a low-scale penalty that amounts to a verbal reprimand for an offence that is not serious enough to be called a crime.
Paltrow, 32, recently threatened to start pressing criminal charges against paparazzi who tried to take her picture. "There should be a law against them," she added.
Ironically, Paltrow plays a pushy reporter and photographer in her new film, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.
