London - A fuchsia pink evening dress worn by the late Princess Diana during an official visit to Thailand in 1988 has been sold at auction in London for a staggering £61 200 R877 148) - almost double its estimated price.
The evening gown made by Diana's favourite designer, Catherine Walker, had been estimated to fetch between £25 000 and £35 000 at the auction at Sotheby's in London, where it went under the hammer late on Tuesday.
The chiffon dress in sari-style has a boned bodice, and came with its original box and lot ticket from its previous sale as part of the Dresses from the Collection of Diana auction on June 25 1997 - two months before she died.
It was purchased 10 years ago for £29 053. - dpa
