Angelina, Billy Bob split

Los Angeles - The intense marriage of Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton is on the rocks, after two years of expressing their love through tattoos and blood-filled amulets.
"Sometimes you don't see things coming," Jolie said of the apparent breakdown in her marriage in an interview with US Weekly, to be published in the magazine's July 29 edition.
"We're not divorced yet. We're going through a difficult time. I'm not sure what will happen," added the Oscar-winning star of films such as Girl, Interrupted and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.
Jolie said she and Thornton, who was nominated for two Oscars
this year, had been living in separate hotels for four months and
had not seen each other since June 3, the day before her 27th
birthday.
"I'm angry. I'm sad," Jolie told US. "It's a very difficult and
sad time. It was a real deep connection, a deep marriage, so it's not that simple to say this or that one thing caused the problems."
The pair had been heralded as Hollywood's hottest couple,
appearing deeply in love when they appeared in public and when they announced their adoption of a Cambodian baby boy, who they named Maddox, in March of this year.
But despite the public shows of togetherness, Thornton (46) went
on tour with his band immediately after the boy arrived in the
United States in June and the two have not seen each other since,
Jolie told US.
"He's focused on his music career," said Jolie. "I'm focused on
my baby."
Thornton's publicist declined to comment on the reports of the
break-up, while Jolie's representatives could not immediately be
reached by telephone.
The couple, who married in a ceremony in the gambling haven of
Las Vegas in 2000, went to great lengths to publicly show their
feelings for one another.
They tattooed each other's names on their arms and even wore
each other's blood around their necks in pendants they had
specially made for the purpose.
"Like a lot of couples, you always talk about how much in love
with each other you are, and you can't think of enough ways to
devour each other and take each other," she had said in an
interview recently.
"And blood is your life. So many times, I have just wanted to
drink every part of him."
Jolie, the daughter of Oscar-winning Hollywood heavyweight Jon
Voight and French actress Marcheline Bertrand, was married once
before tying the knot with Thornton, who is on his fifth marriage.
Last year, the stunning brunette famed for her looks and welter
of tattoos became a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations, a
role she was inspired to take on after filming Lara Croft in Cambodia and seeing the plight of refugees from Afghanistan's civil war.
Jolie won the Oscar for best supporting actress for her role as
a mentally troubled young woman in 1999's Girl, Interrupted, while Thornton won a best adapted screenplay Oscar for the short film Sling Blade, which he wrote and directed. - Sapa/AFP
