Los Angeles - Actor David Hasselhoff left an alcohol treatment programme in June after one day, got drunk at a nearby hotel and ended up unconscious in the emergency room of a local hospital, he told TV Guide in its new issue released on Sunday.
Hasselhoff told the magazine he eventually went back to the Betty Ford Centre and after his treatment attended daily meetings of recovering alcoholics while filming a reunion movie for his international hit TV show Baywatch.
"I once thought about writing a book called The Minibar and Me," he said. "[I'd be] social drinking, having fun - and damn, I'd just have a blackout."
After his one-day stint at Betty Ford in June, Hasselhoff checked into a hotel in a T-shirt and shorts, the magazine said, and began to drink from a minibar full of rum, cognac, beer and wine, leading to his hospitalisation the next day.
"I woke up going, 'This is rock bottom'," he said.
After leaving the hospital he went back to treatment and then resumed work on the film.
Hasselhoff also told TV Guide a feature film version of his 1980s TV show Knight Rider is in the works; he would executive produce and might reprise his role as Michael Knight in the film.
The Baywatch reunion, Baywatch Hawaiian Wedding, is set to be aired in February.
