London - Fahrenheit 9/11, the documentary by film director Michael Moore that attacks US President George W Bush, has broken the British box office record for documentaries, official figures published on Tuesday showed.
According to the figures, the film grossed more than £1.3m in its first weekend.
It broke the previous record held by Moore's earlier documentary, Bowling for Columbine, which took £158 000.
In the film, Moore claims the Bush family has close business links with the Bin Laden clan and lampoons the president.
The film won the Palme D'Or at the Cannes film festival in May and has been a huge success in the United States, where it is thought it could influence the outcome of the election in November. - Sapa-dpa
