Los Angeles - Actor William Hurt, nominated for an Academy Award this year for the fourth time, revealed on Monday that his first Oscar has been stolen.
The 55-year-old Hollywood actor, who won the best actor statuette for 1985's Kiss Of the Spider Woman said the coveted statuette had disappeared during a house move last June.
"It got stolen, someone walked off with it," he said at a luncheon given in honour of this year's Oscar nominees, including Hurt who won a nod for best supporting actor for A History of Violence.
"I'm working on getting it replaced," he said, adding that he feels "sorry: for the person who stole it".
Hurt also revealed that there may have been a delay in realising that the statuette was missing because he does not display his Oscar and other movie awards and memorabilia in his house.
"I don't sport trophies in my house, I don't want my children thinking of me in that way," he said.
Hurt has been nominated for best actor three times previously, for Spider Woman, for 1986's Children Of a Lesser God and for the television-themed drama Broadcast News (1987).
