London - The Just William series is returning to television later this year for the first time in 15 years.
First published in 1922 by Richmal Crompton, the books feature the exploits of William, an 11-year old boy accompanied by his group of 'Outlaws'.
The books have sold over 12 million copies in the UK alone, and over the years have often been adapted for radio and TV.
The last TV series was in 1995.
Daniel Roche, 10, who won acclaim for his role as Ben in the sitcom Outnumbered, will play the lead role.
Joining him will be Isabella Blake-Thomas playing William's spoilt neighbour Elizabeth Bott.
The new series will be broadcast on BBC1 and CBBC.
