Sydney - Shooting on the Australian feature Eucalyptus starring Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe has been postponed until the script of the screen adaptation of Murray Bail's eponymous novel is re-written, the production company said on Friday.
Eucalyptus was being shot in Sydney and in the New South Wales farming town of Bellingen.
Kidman, Crowe, director Jocelyn Moorhouse and producer Uberto Pasolini said in a joint statement the script needed more work.
"Unfortunately our availability prohibits us from completing this work at this time," the statement read. "Therefore, we have agreed that the best thing to do is to postpone shooting until the project's foundation is solid."
Kidman and fellow Australian actors Jack Thompson and Hugo Weaving were due to begin shooting the film this week near New Zealander Crowe's cattle farm in Coffs Harbour.
The project reunited Crowe with Moorhouse and producer Linda House. The trio worked together on 1991's Proof, one of Crowe's earliest films.
Moorhouse's other films include How to Make an American Quilt with actors Winona Ryder, Kate Capshaw and Ellen Burstyn, and A Thousand Acres starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Jessica Lange.
