Los Angeles - Hollywood darling Reese Witherspoon, nominated for an Oscar for her singing role in Walk The Line, promised on Monday not to inflict a music album on the world.
The actress, 29, one of Hollywood's highest-earning female stars, said she would not follow the lead of some of her fellow Hollywood stars, including Lindsay Lohan and Star Trek star Leonard Nimoy, by recording her own music.
"No, I wouldn't do that to you all," quipped Witherspoon, nominated for a best actress award for her role as singer June Carter Cash in the Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line, when asked if she would cash in on the success of the film by making an album.
While many singers, including Will Smith and Queen Latifah, have gone on to become respected actors, there are far fewer actors who have been able to parlay their fame into successful recording careers.
Disastrous singing career
Stars whose brief musical careers have not been glorious include Cybill Shepherd, Nimoy, Kojak star Telly Savalas, action star Steven Segal and Baywatch actor David Hasselhoff, who has however enjoyed musical success in Germany.
Witherspoon, said at a luncheon for this year's crop of Oscar nominees in Beverly Hills, that she has not had a moment to think of what she'll wear on the red carpet in three weeks time on March 5.
"Something that fits and that's comfortable," said the star best known for her roles as a fashion-conscious California girl in the Legally Blonde movies.
She also revealed that her six-year-old daughter with actor Ryan Phillippe, Ava, was thrilled that she was winning awards for her role as June Carter Cash, but Witherspoon said the child did not always know exactly what the awards meant.
"When I won the SAG (Screen Actors' Guild Award) I told her I won something, and she said 'Mommy that's because you're the best mom in the world'," Witherspoon recounted.
