London - British pop star Robbie Williams will release a new single in October, which features Gary Barlow, their first collaboration of its kind since Williams' departure from Take That in 1995.
The duet, which the two stars also co-wrote, is called Shame and will hit the stores on October 4, a week ahead of the release of Williams' latest album In and Out of Consciousness - The Greatest Hits 1990-2010.
The track, which will be included on the 39-song, two-disc album, is likely to fuel speculation that Williams is set to re-join his old band to perform.
Take That have seen their popularity in Britain soar in recent years while Williams' solo career has faltered.
"It's incredible to listen to the album and realise that it's already been 20 years of making music and playing gigs," Williams, 36, said in a statement.
"The great thing about the album is that it's not only a celebration of my past but also a bridge to the future. The fact that part of the future includes a name from my past makes it all the more poignant for me."
Williams has sold 57 million albums worldwide and has won more Brit awards than any other artist. His new album is released on Virgin Records, part of EMI.
