Spoof tops box office

Los Angeles - Epic Movie, a spoof of hit movies including Borat and X-Men, topped the box office at the weekend, taking in $19.2m in its debut.
The action flick Smokin' Aces starring Ben Affleck, Ray Liotta and songstress Alicia Keyes in the hunt for a mob snitch, opened at number two with $14.3m in ticket sales, according to box office tracker Media By Numbers.
The Ben Stiller comedy Night at the Museum, stayed strong six weeks after opening, coming in third place with an estimated $9.5m. The film, which stars Stiller as a night watchman at a museum where the exhibits come to life, has grossed $216.7m.
Catch and Release, starring Affleck's wife, Jennifer Garner, debuted in fourth place with about $8m.
The leader of the last two weeks, Stomp the Yard, slipped to fifth with $7.8m.
Rounding out the top 12 movies were: Dreamgirls ($6.6m); The Pursuit of Happyness ($5m); Pan's Labyrinth ($4.5m); The Queen ($4m); The Hitcher ($3.6m); Freedom Writers ($3.5m); and The Departed ($3m).
The 12 top-grossing movies earned about $89m, an 11.2% drop from the $100.15m grossed by the top dozen films during the same period a year ago.
