Santa Barbara - Bail for singer Michael Jackson, who is facing
"multiple counts" of child molestation, has been set at $3m,
Santa Barbara police said on Wednesday.
If he is convicted on the charges he might have to spend more than eight years behind bars, the police's Lance Craig said.
Jackson had been given a "specific amount of time" to surrender himself to authorities and hand over his passport, Santa Barbara sheriff Jim Anderson said.
A court will have to decide whether the pop icon's three children will be removed from his care after he is charged with child abuse.
Police have meanwhile appealed for any other alleged child abuse victims of Jackson's to come forward.
