Silicone and suicide...

London - Women who have breast implants are three times more likely to commit suicide than other women, according to a Dutch study published in the British Medical Journal on Friday.
The researchers studied 3 521 Swedish women aged 15-69 who had implants between 1965 and 1993 and found a well documented link between psychiatric disorders and a desire for cosmetic surgery.
The findings could therefore reflect higher levels of psychological problems generally, rather any cause-and-effect link between implants and suicide.
The authors said that in light of their findings, surgeons considering people for breast implants operations should be vigilant for subtle signs of psychiatric problems. - Sapa-DPA
