Los Angeles - The wife of US screen heart-throb Christian Slater will not face domestic violence charges after allegedly hitting the actor on the head with a drinking glass, prosecutors said on Wednesday.
An investigation was launched into Ryan Haddon after Slater suffered the injury while staying at a hotel in the desert gambling hub of Las Vegas on November 10.
Clark County District Attorney David Roger said the probe was being dropped as authorities could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Haddon had intended to injure her famous husband. "If we don't have the evidence to prove the charges, we are obligated not to proceed," he said.
Police said last month that Haddon, who has been married to Slater for three years - the two have a young son - was arrested for alleged domestic violence against the 34-year-old actor.
The arrest took place after police were called when Slater appeared injured in the lobby of the Hard Rock Hotel at around 08:00.
The officers determined Haddon was the aggressor and arrested her for misdemeanour battery domestic violence, said Officer Jose Montoya of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
A police report stated that Haddon told officers the glass of water slipped out of her hand as she was trying to splash her husband, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Haddon was taken to Clark County Detention Centre, where she later posted bail, Montoya said.
Slater has starred in such hits as last year's Windtalkers, 3000 Miles to Graceland (2001), Interview with a Vampire (1994) and The Name of the Rose (1986).
