Warsaw - A woman drowned after being attacked by a swan while swimming in a lake in Plock, central Poland, the news agency PAP reported on Tuesday.
Eyewitnesses said the woman had been unable to escape from the grip of her winged attacker then panicked and drowned, a police spokesperson said.
Rescuers recovered her body from the lake two hours later. The woman had probably ventured into the swan's closely guarded territory beyond the swimming area, without realising it, sources said.
