London - More than 100 000 fans have pre-ordered the new Harry Potter book that goes on sale in five months' time, the British division of online book retailer Amazon said on Monday.
The sixth title in the hugely successful series by JK Rowling, Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, went to the top of amazon.co.uk's sales chart on the first day of its announcement on 22 December 2004.
The children's version of the book, rumoured to have a different cover design from the adult copy, has remained in the number one spot ever since. The adult equivalent is at number five.
Amazon.co.uk says it is planning to send out all pre-ordered copies of the £9.99 - about R100 - book so that they arrive on 16 July, the day of public release.
The fifth book of the series, Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix, is Amazon.co.uk's best-selling item ever. It attracted 420 000 pre-orders before its release on 21 July 2003.
