Pitt donates $1m to hospital

Los Angeles - Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have donated $1m to a US hospital.
The Hollywood couple gave the generous contribution to St John's Hospital in the actor's hometown of Springfield, Missouri, over the weekend.
The money will be used to establish an endowment fund to pay for children's cancer specialists.
Brad's brother Doug - who also contributed to the donation - revealed the treatment unit will be renamed the Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Centre in honour of their mother who is very passionate about children's health issues.
The money will also go toward building a new paediatric unit, a 10-bedroom hospice and increasing the size of the neonatal and paediatric intensive care units.
Once it is completed, St John's will become one of six affiliates of the St Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
Angelina and Brad - who have three adopted children, Maddox, aged seven, Pax, aged five, and four-year-old Zahara, as well as three biological children, Shiloh, aged three, and 11-month-old twins Konx and Vivienne - are known for their work with good causes.
In 2008, it was revealed they had donated over $8m to charity.
Angelina is a UN ambassador, while Brad has devoted his time to helping victims of the 2005 hurricane Katrina which devastated New Orleans.
