46664 nearly out of the red

Cape Town - The 46664 Aids campaign, launched in October last year by former president Nelson Mandela, had raised R26.7 million (about £2.3m) by June.
The campaign was named "46664" which was Madiba's prison number.
According to the Nelson Mandela Foundation's half-yearly report, a little over R4m (£350 000) was raised through the 46664 concert, held in Cape Town last year.
Superstars such as Beyonce Knowles, Peter Gabriel, The Eurythmics and Bono of U2 were all part of the line-up, while an estimated one billion people around the globe watched the Green Point concert.
DVD and CD sales of the concert generated a further R8.1m (about £700 000) while R350 000 (about £30 000) was raised through the sales of 46664 products.
Social sponsorships to the campaign reached more than R10m (about ͦ 000) and donations from the public generated about R4m (about £350 000).
A loan of about R35m (£3m) was made to the foundation to cover the costs of the concert and produce the CDs and DVDs.
According to the report, the concert should start showing a profit by mid-2005.
