Eben Jansen axed over Sir Alex

Cape Town - Eben Jansen, e.tv's sports editor, has been sacked.

The television channel notified him of the dismissal in writing on Monday. E.tv head of corporate communications Kanthan Pillay confirmed this on Monday night.

Jansen got into trouble about three weeks ago regarding remarks he and Craig Marais, one of the television station's sports journalists, made about the alleged indecent behaviour of British soccer boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

The presenters intimated during the main news on October 15 that Ferguson was possibly not innocent.

Jansen was not available for comment on Monday evening.
