Johannesburg - One of the greatest gangsta rappers is on his way to thrill South African fans.
Snoop Dogg (formerly known as Snoop Doggy Dogg) will perform in three concerts in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.
Due to appear with him are dance star Sean Paul, singers Mario and Rihanna, the group Caribbean Queen and a number of local artists.
Snoop, who himself spent a large part of his career in prison, was in the news recently when he attended the funeral of reformed gang leader Stanley "Tookie" Williams.
Snoop has been called the Renaissance man of hip-hop music, with albums like Doggystyle and The Doggfather.
He retained his status last year with Snoop Dogg R&G: Rhythm & Gangsta The Masterpiece, from which songs like Drop it like it's hot, Let's get blown and Signs are still climbing the hit-parade charts.
The concerts will be held on Thursday, April 27, at the Johannesburg Stadium; on Saturday, April 29, at the Absa Stadium in Durban; and on Workers' Day, May 1, at the Green Point Stadium in Cape Town.
Ticket prices have not yet been announced.
