Johannesburg - Television actress Lindiwe Cibi was in a critical condition in Johannesburg's Garden City hospital on Sunday after being shot in the head at her house in Mofolo, Soweto police said.
Police spokesperson Superintendent Thembi Nkwashu said a man had been arrested and was expected to appear in the Protea magistrate's court on Tuesday on various charges, including one of attempted murder.
Nkwashu said Cibi, of the popular drama series Muvhango, was shot by the man on Saturday.
"According to a friend, there had been no argument before the shooting," said Nkwashu.
The friend said Cibi was leaning against a car when the man just walked up from behind her and shot her in the head.
The friend said the man then hijacked her car.
"He was involved in an accident in Orlando while trying to escape and the community apprehended him," Nkwashu said.
She said the man, who was in the custody of the Orlando police, would be charged with reckless driving, hijacking, attempted murder and the possession of an unlicenced firearm.
