Whackhead has own breakfast menu

Johannesburg - Darren Simpson, better known as
Whackhead Simpson, is the new front man for the 94.7 Highveld Stereo breakfast
show, and he knows all too well that he has big shoes to fill with the departure
of Jeremy Mansfield.
"He wears a size 12 and I'm only a size 9. I just
hope I don't get too many blisters on my feet," Simpson joked on Thursday
at the launch of breakfast xpress, as the show will be known from
Monday.
Simpson will be presenting the programme along with
the rest of the Rude Awakening team, and is quite determined to change
the programme.
"I'd like to believe I'll be bringing a fresh
approach. Jeremy and I also have completely different styles.
"The core of the team will be the same, so it
will sound a lot like it did before, but it's going to feel different."
A breakfast show should be predictable, since
listeners like to know what they can expect when, explained Simpson.
Whackhead's famous pranks will definitely not
disappear.
"I love doing it. It's hard work but great fun.
It will also stay in the same timeslot, 07:10."
Terry Volkwyn, chief executive of Primedia
Broadcasting, said the company feels that Johannesburg is ready for something
new, fresh and vibrant.
"I have no doubt that breakfast xpress
will be a success."
Samantha Cowen, Bongani Nxumalo, Paul Totherham,
Greame Joffe, Greg Volkwyn and Vin Deysel will join Simpson on weekdays between
06:00 and 09:00 to entertain Johannesburg.
