Cape Town - In 2012, a high school student in the US asked 30 people to draw a world map from memory as part of an art project, and the results were pretty interesting.

The Atlantic reports that Zak Ziebell was tasked with creating a piece of art that would reveal something unseen.

He approached 29 people on the campus of the University of Michigan, gave them a piece of paper and a pen, and asked them to draw a world map from memory.

Ziebell posted his findings on Reddit, and the reaction has been quite interesting.

The Atlantic reports that the images has reinforced the stereotype about geographically illiterate Americans overseas. Ziebell said that all but one of the 30 students was American.

As can be seen on the image, New Zealand, the UK, Madagascar, Greenland, the Arctic and most of Southeast Asia is missing.
