Be prepared to discuss your own performance

Before your salary discussion, prepare a list of the ways in which you have grown or have contributed to the company in the past year (or shorter period if you were on probation). You should be able to look at a list of duties or key performance indicators and give feedback on these areas. Also think of times that you have gone the extra mile, tasks you have completed early, compliments you have been given or people you have helped, and don’t be afraid to mention those.
