Chuck and broccoli stew

Ingredients

  • 500 g boneless beef chuck, sliced into thin strips
  • 500 ml (2 cups) beef stock
  • 30 ml (2 tablespoons) soy sauce
  • 30 ml (2 tablespoons) brown sugar
  • 15 ml (1 tablespoon) sunflower oil
  • 10 ml (2 teaspoons) crushed garlic
  • 30 ml (2 tablespoons) Maizena (corn starch)
  • 200 g Fresh broccoli florets

Steps

  1. Place beef in a saucepan. In a small bowl, mix together the beef stock, soy sauce, brown sugar, oil and garlic, and pour over beef.
  2. Simmer gently for 1½ hours
  3. Mix Maizena with a little cold water and stir until smooth. Stir into beef and mix well, then simmer gently until slightly thickened.
  4. Add broccoli to beef and stir gently. Cover and cook for 15 minutes. Serve stew over rice or pap.
