An Eskom spokesperson said on Monday that no load shedding was expected during the day, after initiating stage two load shedding across the country yesterday after a loss of capacity at its Majuba Power Station in Mpumalanga.

An Eskom spokesperson said on Monday that no load shedding was expected during the day, after initiating stage two load shedding across the country yesterday after a loss of capacity at its Majuba Power Station in Mpumalanga.

A crack in a coal storage silo at Majuba on Saturday afternoon caused the loss of 1 800MW, Eskom had said in a statement, after which it initiated load shedding countrywide on Sunday, which was expected to last the entire week.

But spokesperson Andrew Etzinger said in an interview that the power Utility did not anticipate any load shedding, but that supply would remain tight.

Etzinger was being interviewed on the Morning Live show.
