The long-awaited Vodacom Durban July had twitter aflutter this weekend as South Africans donned their best outfits and made their way to the Greyville Race course to watch some of the world’s fastest horses battle it out for the coveted title.

Over the past 15 years, the Vodacom Durban July has become synonymous with Game Changing fashion anchored by themes uniquely avant-garde. This inevitably leads to interesting interpretations from fashion-forward attendees. This year’s Captain’s Table theme was nothing short of fabulous. All you had to do was follow #VDJ2015 on Twitter and Instagram to see for yourself.

“The Vodacom Durban July has always been about the glitz, the glamour and the horses. The July fashion becomes a trending topic across the racecourse and it was amazing to see our super-fast Internet enable guests to instantly share their experience and fashion moments with the rest of South Africa on various social networks,” said Nadia Mohamed, Vodacom’s Executive Head of Brand.

Year on year, the highly contested Vodacom Durban July Fashion Challenge sees upcoming designers face-off for a fashionable battle, giving emerging designers an opportunity to establish themselves. This year, Durban University of Technology student Carla Gerstmeier sailed to the number one spot, winning the coveted Young Designer Award 2015.

Furthermore, Vodacom ran popular fashion shows throughout the day, showcasing the works of some of South Africa’s notable designers, including Colleen Eitzen, Rubicon and Fundudzi by Craig Jacobs.

“Through the Vodacom Durban July property, we are able to support emerging talent and uplift the future of South African design with the Fashion Challenges. The talent showcased at the Vodacom Durban July is really impressive and we would like to congratulate all the winners. Go forth and change the game”, concluded Mohammed.
