Here are some tips to ensure you still enjoy yourself at a family gathering when you are watching your weight.

• If you have a choice, eat chicken rather than red meat.

• If pap is served, rather say no. And keep an apple in your handbag in case you are still hungry.

• If you love chocolate and cakes, share them with a friend or family member.

• If everyone is having alcohol, have a glass of wine rather than cider. And drink a glass of water after each glass of alcohol.
