Get rid of that bad mood: here’s how

Bad moods happen to us all, but if you’re working in an office environment or are out with friends, you have to play nice. Here are some helpful tips on how to snap out of that bad mood.

Sometimes there’s a rational explanation for our bad mood and at other times everything simply irritates us for absolutely no reason.

But our bad moods don’t just affect us, they affect everyone around us too

And, if you’re working in an office environment or are out socialising with friends, you have to play nice.

So, here are some helpful tips on how to snap out of that bad mood:

1. List everything you’re thankful for

Yes, this does sound like something from a self-help book. But, before you roll your eyes, try it. Go through the things that you’re truly grateful for. Whether it’s the compelling novel you’re reading, your exciting job or your supportive family. You don’t have to write this list down (that’s a bit excessive), just go over it in your head.

2. Reach out to a friend

Friends are there for a reason. They care about you and are pretty useful to have around on days when you just can’t locate your smile. If you can, call your bestie over for a glass of wine and a chat.

Of course, if you simply don’t have the time or are stuck at work, you could always send your friend a “please cheer me up” message. Whether they commiserate with you or send you a funny meme, it’s likely to help ease the grumpiness.

3. Surf the web

Social media isn’t always the best place to go when you’re in a bad mood. People are going on exciting adventures, posting baby photos and telling you just how much they love their significant other. And that might just make things worse.

Rather go to a site that makes you laugh. Meme sites, Youtube and, of course, Buzzfeed are great for this. However, don’t make the mistake of checking up on the news.

4. Indulge yourself

If you have the finances, go all out to cheer yourself up. The level of over-indulgence should be based on exactly how long this mood has been plaguing you for. It could be eating a slab of chocolate or buying yourself some duty-free perfume the next time you fly or go on a cruise. It all depends on how big the problem is.
