How can one be financially fit.

Draw up a budget a week before receiving your salary.

• Stick to the budget.

• Pay off the debts immediately.

• Junk food is expensive and unhealthy, so cut it out.

• Buy for cash and not credit. If you are tempted to buy on credit, pay on a six-month arrangement that does not have extra charges.

• Limit your buying. Shops have a tendency to increase your credit limit when you pay your account on time, so do not be tempted to buy more than you can pay. Set a limit on how much you can afford to pay a month and do not exceed that.

• Avoid sales except for necessities. It’s too easy to justify buying luxury items when they are on sale.

• Beware of giveaway tricks that attract you to buy things you don’t need.

• Don’t use shopping as entertainment. You will be tempted by too many things when you just walk around the mall.

• Ask a friend to be a shopping buddy to help you stick to your commitment.

• You control your money and not the other way around.

• Reward yourself. Do enjoy your money, but do it responsibly. Buy things that can really improve your life only if you can afford them.
