I Will Confess My Transgressions to the LORD

Psalm 32:5: I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and You forgave the iniquity of my sin.

In Psalm 32 David contrasts the agony of guilt (verses 4-5) with the joy of forgiveness. When he finally stopped trying to cover up his adultery with Bathsheba and murder of Uriah, he poured out his heart to God in repentance. Every human being has sinned, and this terrible stain has separated us from the righteous God.

Thankfully, God had a plan. Jesus Christ was willing to come to earth and pay our death penalty for us. Because of that, God is willing to forgive our sins, which are paid for by Christ’s shed blood: “In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1:14).
