When Generations first went off-air and its creator Mfundi Vundla announced he would re-create the soapie with a new cast the rumour mill went wild with speculation , including the possibility of the fired actors getting together to create their own spin-off of the soapie called ’the real Generations’ . Although nothing has come of the rumour so far City Press has reported that e-tv is looking to hire the actors for a new telenovela. Their sources said although no contracts had been signed yet; things do look promising for the hot new show which should air in February next year.

According to City Press, the G-16 (fired Generations actors) might be together again on a new e-tv telenovela, ‘Gold diggers’ in the new year.

The newspapers source said four actors had already been approached by e-tv , “Nambitha Mpumlwana, Sophie Ndaba, Zolisa Xaluva and Zikhona Sodlaka are some of the people who have been approached by e.tv so far,” two impeccable sources told City Press.

Although none of the actors were available for comment e-tv’s managing director Monde Twala didn’t exactly deny the rumours. In an email response to City Press he said: “e.tv is cooking up a new and “spectacular” line-up for the 20:00 weekday slot in the new year.

“The offerings are packed with serial drama, intensity, a cast that will shock you, engage you and quench your thirst for more entertainment. The market is craving a fresh alternative and we have just what it needs. We are looking for the very best of South African talent. The channel is not at liberty to confirm any names at this stage. Information will be revealed once all deals have been concluded.”
