The multi-talented beauty will portray struggle icon Solomon Mahlangu’s girlfriend Brenda in a new biopic called Kalushi.

Kalushi is based on the true story of a nineteen year old hawker, Solomon Mahlangu from Mamelodi township becomes a political icon and through this film we get to see him transform from an average hawker to a human rights legend.

Mahlangu was hung in 1979 after being found guilty of terrorism and treason charges.

He joined the African National Congress (ANC) in September 1976, and left the country to be trained as an Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) “The Spear of the Nation” soldier.

The training was received in Angola and Mozambique and on 11 June 1977 he returned to South Africa as a cadre, heavily armed, through Swaziland to assist with student protests.

Kalushi debuts at the Rapid Lion Film Festival at the Market Theatre a week only.

Kalushi is Mandla Dube’s first feature film and one of the very few films that has a South African lead portraying South African struggle icon.

It comes out nationally in September this year.
