The benefits of using a serum

VERY woman wants healthy, beautiful and flawless skin, and there are

numerous beauty products that help us achieve this. One of these products is a serum.

WHAT IS A SERUM?

A serum is an active cream that is used as an alternative to creams, lotions or oils. Serums come as oil or water-based. Water-based serums nourish the inner layer of the skin as they penetrate easier due to small molecules. The oil-based serum moisturises the top layer of the skin and keeps it protected and covered.

HOW AND WHEN TO APPLY

Apply after cleansing but before moisturising. Apply at least twice a week to get the maximum effect.

WHICH SERUM TO USE

Acne prone skin - Use a serum with Vitamin C. The anti-oxidants reduce inflammation, which reduces the appearance of acne. It also unclogs pores and regulates oil production.

Dull/tired skin - Use a serum with natural extracts such as tea and natural oils. Natural ingredients exfoliate the skin while reviving it.

Dry skin - Use a serum with Vitamin E. It improves the elasticity of the skin. If your skin is extra dry, use you daily moisturiser together with the serum.

For oily skin -  avoid serums with sun screen. This can become too heavy for the skin, causing blackheads.
