MOISTURISERS are important skin products as they are beneficial to all skin types. After washing your face, no matter what your skin type is, you need a moisturiser to help improve your skin tone and texture. They seal moisture into the outer layer of the skin.

CHOOSING A MOISTURISER

¦ Look for common and active ingredients such as lanolin, glycerin, or petrolatum.

¦ Buy a moisturiser with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 30.

¦ Choose a moisturiser that’s labelled ‘non-comedogenic’ because it won’t clog your pores.

¦ Use a lighter lotion in the summer, and a cream or ointment during the winter season.

¦ Take into consideration the smell, feel, irritation and price.

¦ For a night cream, consider using a moisturiser with retinol which is vitamin A for your skin.

SKIN TYPE

¦ For sensitive skin, look for a moisturiser with some soothing ingredients, like aloe, that won’t be harsh on the skin.

¦ For oily skin, go with a light, oilfree moisturiser.

¦ If you have dry skin, get something that is richer.

¦ If you have combination skin, go with a lighter moisturiser for your whole face and smear drier areas with a heavier cream.

¦ For a mature skin, choose an oil-based moisturisers to preserve moisture.
