More than a thousand University of Cape Town students stormed into the arrived at the Waterfront-based Granger Bay hotel, where the University’s management is apparently holding a meeting.

Police were also expected to be present, in anticipation of any violent protesting.

News 24 reporters have stated that the students were calling for the "revolution" not to be televised, and that no photographs should be taken, a statement that is believed to have caused panic buttons among some of the university management.

The students are in protest against proposed fee increases, a trend that has spiralled across most national universities.
