When you can go to the Small Claims Court

If you have lent somebody less than R12 000 and they haven’t paid you back as agreed, you can take them to the Small Claims Court (SCC). The reason Scorpion Legal Protection recommends this is because going to the SCC will resolve your matter more quickly and more cheaply than if you go to another court. The court proceedings take place after hours and you can represent yourself (lawyers are not allowed). Contact Scorpion before you go to court; we will advise you on the best way to present your case and explain to you how the SCC works.
