Young Women in Business Network (YWBN) summit is back in full swing and aimed at empowering more women through entrepreneurship.

This is the 6th annual gathering in terms of giving women new and existing opportunities in business at Eskom, which is a partner of YWBN this year.

The event will take place tomorrow at Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg from 8 am until 11pm, where business people and aspiring entrepreneurs will be meeting to network and share ideas towards growing the economy of South Africa and also to penetrate global markets through their business empires.

The founder of YWBN Co-operative Bank, Nthabeleng Likotsi, 32, says that South African women in business should use the opportunity that her organisation is bringing to them in terms of empowering themselves through business opportunities and entrepreneur leadership.

“Our aim is to tap into the territory that has been dominated by men. As women in business, we have all the qualities to take the bull by its horns in terms of delivering great results towards the success of business and the growth of economy in this country. With this summit, we are encouraging women in business to take up opportunities towards growing their business interests and also contribute to the economy of South Africa through their expertise in various fields of work,” says Nthabeleng.

In 2012 YWBN participated in a BBBEE investment whereby together with other investors the organisation bought 26% shareholding in Namlog, an international logistics and supply chain management company .

Nthabeleng says this year her organisation will also bring business opportunities through Eskom initiative.

“Eskom will not just be presenting their R150 Billion worth of opportunities at the 6th annual YWBN summit but will also have a post summit training. There will be over 200 black businesses, especially enterprises owned by black women, youth and people living with disabilities,” says Nthabeleng.
