  • Over 18 000 people had been affected by the floods in the Western Cape, Cape Town disaster management spokesperson Wilfred Solomons-Johannes said on Saturday.

    The flooding had caused numerous rockfalls, mudslides and landslides along mountainous areas.

    Mopping up operations have since started in parts affected by heavy flooding.
