I am strong believer that whatever you are seeking is seeking you. As a Pretorian who used to work in Sandton and currently Woodmead, I used to wake up at 4:30am just to make sure that I am on the Ben Shoeman highway before 6am. I practised this routine for almost three years. I remember asking God for a job in Pretoria, which was not coming soon enough, but as God is always faithful, along came the Gautrain and my life changed for the better. I therefore would like to invite all those Gautrain sceptics to zoom in on the 13 reasons to aboard Gautrain
- You don’t get stuck in traffic
- You don’t have to wake up at 4.30am as if you are a breakfast show anchor
- You can catch up on your reading or work stuff on your way to work
- You can sleep on your way to work
- If you are smart, it’s a good place for networking
- It improves one’s time management especially if you use additional Gautrain resources like buses and shuttles, you know that when you get to work, you work because you cannot afford to knock off late
- It helps one to loose weight, improves your health; you will soon learn how to run short quick sprints to catch the train and if you are not sprinting; you will be brisk walking. Gautrainers seldom stroll because that could mean missing the train and catching another train 15 or 30 minutes later depending if its on or off peak respectively
- It teaches one manners and improves intuition; if a hot lady wearing high heels is standing next to your seated self on the Gautrain, intuitively you will give her your seat
- You can use all you fancy technological gadgets without fear of being mugged something you can never do on Metrorail
- If you are single it gives you a variety of opportunity to mingle
- It will affirm your Grade One Teacher’s lesson about the fact that chewing a gum is bad, you will pay heavily for it on the Gautrain
- If the Gautrain gets stuck, John Robbie will talk about it on 702, so your boss will not think you are making excuses for being late for work
- Then you will meet Andre, the driver we all love, who has a way of making your Gautrain journey special by just being himself
